Felix Magath bemoans Fulham's defensive frailties

Felix Magath says that Fulham will be relegated if they continue to play like they did against Chelsea.

Fulham manager Felix Magath has admitted that the Cottagers will be relegated if they continue to defend the way they did against Chelsea.

A hat-trick by Andre Schurrle was enough for the Blues to record a 3-1 win, and Magath insists that his players must stop making mistakes at the back if they want to avoid the drop to the Championship.

"We will not stay up with this kind of defending and need to learn better," Magath told BBC Sport.

"The biggest problem was that our captain [Brede Hangeland] was gone after a few minutes. If he could have played the whole game, we could have had a different result.

"Chelsea were too good for us. They played very well, wanted to win and were the better team. There were some good situations for us in the first half but we are responsible for not playing so well."

Fulham are four points adrift at the bottom of the table.
