Both sides had opportunities early in the game, Asamoah Gyan causing problems for the Congo defence, while Dieumerci Mbokani helped set up a good chance for Tresor Mputu.
Ghana took the lead just before half time, Kwadwo Asamoah teaming up with Gyan to set Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu up for a tap in from close range for the first goal of the tournament.

The four-time champions doubled their advantage just after the break, Asamoah heading in another close-range effort.
The goal triggered an immediate response from Congo, with Mputu clinically firing the ball in to get his side back in the match.
Congo were given a chance to equalise when Mbokani had his shirt tugged in the penalty box, resulting in the referee awarding a spot kick. The Anderlecht striker duly sent the Ghana keeper the wrong way to level the scores.

The goalkeepers were called on to make crucial saves towards the end of the game as both sides looked for a winning goal.
However, neither were able to take a lead, resulting in the third draw from three matches in the competition so far.
