Rajiv van La Parra: 'Huddersfield Town deserved win over West Bromwich Albion'

Huddersfield Town winger Rajiv van La Parra believes that his side deserved their 1-0 win over West Bromwich Albion, having played much of the second half with 10 men.

Huddersfield Town winger Rajiv van La Parra has insisted that his side deserved their 1-0 win over West Bromwich Albion in this afternoon's Premier League clash at the John Smith's Stadium.

Van La Parra scored a memorable goal right on the stroke of half time which ultimately proved to be enough for all three points, although the Terriers were forced to play the majority of the second half with 10 men following Christopher Schindler's red card.

Only Manchester United, Arsenal and Manchester City have now picked up more points at home in the Premier League this season, and Van La Parra acknowledged the importance of continuing their good form in front of their own fans.

"I am a happy man! When we got the red card we had to play with 10 men for 30 minutes. They were pressing us really high with the long ball, but we did a great job at a man down. I think we deserved the win," he told reporters.

"Personally, it's nice to score my first Premier League goal. When I was in a position to shoot all I knew was I had to hit the target.

"Sometimes, when you shoot, you have a feeling that it was a nice hit. When it came off my foot I felt that, and it was funny because everyone in the crowd fell really quiet. It was great to see it go in.

"Wins at home this season will be really important - we have to push for wins at home. In this game we had to be patient and our supporters were right behind us, and I'm happy for them that we could get the win."

The victory lifts Huddersfield into the top half of the table with 15 points from their opening 11 outings in the Premier League.
