Huddersfield Town boss David Wagner claims that he is 'excited' about the club's chances of remaining in the Premier League.

Huddersfield Town boss David Wagner has suggested that he is not worried about the club moving closer to the Premier League relegation zone.

The Yorkshire side still hold a three-point cushion over the bottom three, but failure to defeat both Swansea City and Crystal Palace at the John Smith's Stadium has left Wagner's side on the back foot.

However, the German has insisted that he remains 'excited' ahead of the run-in, with three wins from seven games likely to be enough to remain in the top flight.

At a press conference, the 46-year-old told reporters: "The supporters have backed this team and this football club on an unbelievable level. We smell that we have a chance to stay up. It's a case of excitement for us.

"I can only praise my players, so far, on what they have achieved. Our next opportunity to make the next step is Saturday. We are all working towards staying in the Premier League. Everything is so tight, it's the first time the race to survive is so tight, and there will be twists and turns."

Huddersfield face a trip to rivals Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon.
