Steve Bruce has sympathy for Steve Clarke

Hull City boss Steve Bruce admits that he has sympathy for Steve Clarke after he was axed by West Bromwich Albion last week just months removed from a top-10 finish.

Hull City boss Steve Bruce has revealed that he has sympathy for former West Bromwich Albion boss Steve Clarke after he was sacked last week.

The Scot was surprisingly axed by the Baggies following their defeat to Cardiff City, just months removed from an eighth-placed finish in the Premier League last season.

Bruce told reporters: "Steve Clarke took West Brom to eighth last year, a sign that he is a very good manager. He has a few bad results and suddenly it is him that pays for it, not anybody else.

"I feel for Steve because he has had some awful decisions go against him. I remember he was winning at Chelsea a few weeks ago and had an awful penalty given against them, then they were 2-0 up at Aston Villa and he's had some bad decisions go against them."

Hull face West Brom in their Premier League clash at The Hawthorns on Sunday.
