Ipswich Town boss Mick McCarthy happy with a point at Bournemouth

Mick McCarthy is happy with Ipswich Town's defensive display against Bournemouth this afternoon.

Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy has said that he is pleased with a point against Bournemouth.

The Tractor Boys led at Dean Court through Daryl Murphy's strike just before the hour mark, but Brett Pitman's goal 15 minutes later saw the Cherries earn a draw at home.

"It was a really good defensive performance in the end from everyone," McCarthy told reporters. "We are delighted as we have just played a very good team.

"We are on a good run and let's see if we can keep it going. I don't get caught up in the nonsense of talking about trying to win the league, let's just try and be as good as we can possibly can and then be realistic as to what we can achieve.

"All the stuff my lads do get you points and get you up the league and keep it competitive all the time. I like to be consistent."

The result leaves Ipswich sixth in the Championship.
