Ivory Coast heading to World Cup in Brazil

Ivory Coast beat Senegal 4-2 on aggregate in their World Cup African section playoff to confirm progress to their third finals in a row.

Ivory Coast have qualified for their third World Cup in a row at the expense of Senegal.

The Elephants won the first leg 3-1 in Abidjan in October, and a 1-1 draw in Dakar this evening has seen them triumph 4-2 on aggregate.

Alain Giresse's side dominated the game but had to wait until the 77th minute before taking the lead, with the opportunity being granted to them when Didier Drogba brought down Sadio Mane inside the area.

Moussa Sow converted to give them a glimmer of hope, but Salomon Kalou's 94th-minute strike saw Sabri Lamouchi's side are seven games unbeaten.

They have joined Nigeria in reaching next summer's finals in Brazil, with three more teams yet to confirm their place.
