Leonardo Bonucci lauds victory over Shakhtar Donetsk

Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci believes that the spirit in the squad makes the Italian champions a team to avoid in the Champions League last 16.

Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci has declared that his team are capable of matching anyone in the Champions League following their win over Shakhtar Donetsk.

The Italian champions finished top of Group E with a 1-0 victory in Ukraine and Bonucci believes that Antonio Conte's men have the confidence to go all the way.

Juve stayed strong in the closing stages to finish the group unbeaten on their return to European competition.

He told UEFA.com: We had a gameplan to try and counter-attack, because in Turin we struggled when we tried to attack them from the start.

"If we play with the spirit we showed tonight we can beat any team in the competition."

An own goal from Olexandr Kucher also ensured that defending champions Chelsea exited the competition in the group stages.
