Juventus move into third position in the Serie A table, with the team's 15-point deduction from earlier this year being reversed.

Juventus have moved into third position in the Serie A table just hours ahead of the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final with Sporting Lisbon.

The Old Lady were hit with a 15-point deduction earlier this year following an investigation into their transfer dealings, which at the time, pushed them down to 10th position in the table.

However, the penalty has now been reversed pending a new trial to further clarify their capital gains controversy, with the FIGC Federal Court of Appeal needing to re-evaluate their decision from January.

The situation is unlikely to be concluded this season, meaning that Juventus could face punishment for the 2023-24 campaign.

However, as it stands, they have been propelled into third spot in the table, two points behind second-placed Lazio but still 16 behind the leaders Napoli.

AC Milan have dropped out of the top four, with the reigning Italian champions sitting fifth on 53 points, three points behind fourth-placed Roma on the same number of games.

Italy's highest sports court announced the decision on Thursday after a three-hour hearing at the Collegio di Garanzia on Wednesday, with prosecutors asking for a new trial.

Juventus will be bidding to book their spot in the semi-finals of the Europa League before resuming their Serie A campaign against Napoli on Sunday night.
