Michael Gray: 'Sunderland deserved victory'

Former Sunderland defender Michael Gray believes that the team fully deserved their dramatic win over Chelsea in the League Cup quarter-finals.

Former Sunderland defender Michael Gray has insisted that the team fully deserved their victory over Chelsea in the League Cup quarter-finals.

The Black Cats earned a surprise win at the Stadium of Light on Wednesday as Ki Sung-Yeung's goal in extra time saw them secure a 2-1 triumph.

"The passion was back and it was there for everybody to see," Gray is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

"We criticised them in the first half but after that you look at the chances they created, the determination they showed and they deserved it in the end."

Sunderland continue their bid for Premier League survival on Saturday when they entertain Norwich City.
