Demarai Gray guides Birmingham City to victory at Leeds United

Demarai Gray and Jacques Maghoma strike to secure Birmingham City a 2-0 win at Leeds United.

Leeds United remain without a competitive victory at Elland Road in seven months after losing 2-0 to Birmingham City.

Teenage prodigy Demarai Gray gave Birmingham City the lead on the half-hour mark with a rasping finish from 10 yards, despite complaints from Liam Cooper that a foul had been committed by Clayton Donaldson in the build-up to the goal.

Until that point, Leeds had the majority of the ball, but had failed to create much in the way of clear-cut chances, although debutant Will Buckley forced Tomasz Kuszczak into a save with a difficult volley.

Northern Ireland international Stuart Dallas looked certain to equalise for the home side, but his close-range effort was somehow kept out by former Manchester United goalkeeper Kuszczak.

The Blues almost doubled their lead but centre-back Cooper cleared off the line to give Leeds hope of securing a point, only for substitute Jacques Maghoma to secure the away side's victory with a superb solo goal.
