Bielsa: 'Roofe could leave Leeds'

Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa admits that Kemar Roofe could leave the Whites this summer.

Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa has admitted that Kemar Roofe could leave the Whites before this summer's transfer window closes for business.

The 26-year-old, who scored 15 times in 34 appearances for Leeds during the 2018-19 campaign, is currently on the sidelines with an ankle problem.

Anderlecht - now managed by Vincent Kompany - have been strongly linked with a swoop in recent days, though, and Bielsa has conceded that the attacker could leave Elland Road.

"I can't be happy if Roofe leaves. If I tell you this when this striker made 15 goals last season, I would be stupid if I accept this situation," Bielsa told Sky Sports News. "We have to adapt if it finally happens."

The former West Bromwich Albion youngster has less than one year remaining on his contract with Leeds, meaning that he would be free to negotiate with foreign clubs in January 2020.

Roofe's exit would leave Bielsa's side, who opened their Championship campaign with a 3-1 victory at Bristol City on Sunday, extremely short of senior options in the final third of the field.
