Nigel Pearson: 'Owners do not want to get rid of me'

Leicester manager Nigel Pearson reveals that he has been given assurances over his future by the club's owners following recent reports that he had been sacked.

Nigel Pearson has insisted that he has been given assurances over his future as Leicester City manager by the club's owners.

Pressure is mounting on the 51-year-old as the Foxes remain bottom of the Premier League, and reports on Sunday even claimed that he had already been sacked.

However, Pearson has revealed that talks with owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha prior to Tuesday's 2-1 defeat at Arsenal made it clear that he still has the club's backing.

"They don't want to get rid of me," he told a press conference.

"Have I been given more assurances? Yes, I had lunch with the owners today, so there we are."

Pearson began his second spell in charge of the King Power Stadium in November 2011, having initially left for Hull City in 2010.
