Liverpool suffer a huge injury worry ahead of this weekend's EFL Cup final, as Trent Alexander-Arnold appears to hurt his knee against Paris Saint-Germain.

Liverpool have suffered a huge injury worry ahead of this weekend's EFL Cup final, as Trent Alexander-Arnold appeared to hurt his knee against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

The England international unsurprisingly started at right-back for the visit of the French champions, who were bidding to overturn a 1-0 deficit from the first leg of their last-16 encounter in Paris.

Les Parisiens fought their way back into the tie thanks to a first-half goal from Ousmane Dembele, and with the score at 1-0 midway through the second half, Arne Slot was dealt a major concern.

Alexander-Arnold went to challenge PSG midfielder Vitinha on the touchline but caught his foot in the turf as he attempted to block the Portuguese's clearance, seemingly jarring his knee in the process.

Alexander-Arnold immediately slammed the turf in agony and stayed down before receiving treatment from the Liverpool medical team, and Slot took no chances as he substituted him for Jarell Quansah.

The 26-year-old was walking incredibly gingerly as he trudged his way down the sidelines and back to the dugout, plunging his availability for this weekend's EFL Cup final with Newcastle United into doubt.

Slot - who will no doubt be asked for a post-match update - is already missing two other right-back options in Joe Gomez and Conor Bradley due to hamstring injuries, so Quansah would likely start at Wembley if Alexander-Arnold's problem is severe enough to keep him out.
