Liverpool 'have real opportunity to win FA Cup'

Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson feels that his old team have a "real opportunity" to lift the FA Cup this season.

Liverpool's strong team selection against Bournemouth in the FA Cup was correct and the club now have a "real opportunity" of lifting silverware at Wembley, according to a former Anfield stalwart.

Brendan Rodgers opted to start with the likes of Steven Gerrard, Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge in his side 2-0 win at Dean Court on Saturday, but ex-Reds defender Mark Lawrenson believes that the manager of the Anfield outfit made the right decisions.

He told the Liverpool Echo: "I was a bit surprised when I saw how strong Liverpool's team was. But Arsenal did the same the night before in beating Coventry.

"Teams are taking the FA Cup a bit more seriously now. And it now represents a real opportunity for the Reds."

Liverpool face Merseyside rivals Everton in the Premier League on Tuesday evening.
