Phillipe Coutinho: 'Signings should help us reach top four'

Liverpool midfielder Phillipe Coutinho believes that the signings the club have made this summer should propel them into the top four next season.

Liverpool midfielder Phillipe Coutinho believes that his side should finish in the Premier League's top four with the signings they have made this summer.

The Reds have signed Simon Mignolet, Iago Aspas, Kolo Toure and Luis Alberto so far this summer, and have also retained striker Luis Suarez despite interest from Arsenal and Real Madrid.

"Some new players have arrived to help us and the team finished well last year, so we hope to be able to finish within the top four," Coutinho told the club's official website.

"That's what we have always fought for, but we should think on a game-by-game basis because the competition is very long and we have to sustain good performances throughout the whole season."

Coutinho joined Liverpool in January from Inter Milan for £8.5m.
