Liverpool's Jon Flanagan: 'Crystal Palace are our bogey team'

Liverpool full-back Jon Flanagan says that he and his teammates need to stop Crystal Palace from being their "bogey team".

Jon Flanagan has claimed that he and his Liverpool teammates need to end Crystal Palace's reputation of being their "bogey team".

The Eagles contributed to Liverpool's demise in the 2013-14 title race when they fought back from 3-0 down with 11 minutes to go to draw 3-3.

Since then, the Reds have lost all three league matches against Palace, and they head to Selhurst Park on Sunday.

While remembering the 3-3 draw, Flanagan told the Liverpool Echo: "That's probably the worst dressing room I've ever been in. You could hear a pin drop. That feeling was horrible.

"We were so close and everyone was sat there gutted, coming to terms with the fact the league had pretty much gone. Everyone was silent. What can you say about that? There are no words to be said. Everyone knew it was gone.

"They've been bogey team for us in recent years. They've got the better of us on a few occasions and we need to go and put that right on Sunday."

Liverpool head into Sunday's game on the back of a 3-0 win over Manchester City, while Palace are yet to win a Premier League game in 2016.
