Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp insists that "nothing has changed" with regards to his plans to step down from his Anfield post upon the expiration of his contract in 2024.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has insisted that nothing has changed with his plans to step down from his Anfield post in 2024.

The German coach's deal with the EFL Cup champions now has less than two-and-a-half years left to run, and he admitted in 2020 that he planned to take a year off from management when his contract expires.

When asked about his future beyond 2024 after the FA Cup win over Norwich City, Klopp admitted that he "really did not know" what was in store, but the Reds boss gave a more concrete answer ahead of Saturday's Premier League showdown with West Ham United.

"The plan is still the same. Nothing has changed and if I decide to leave in 2024, it'll be nothing to do with the quality of the squad," Klopp told reporters. "All we do is for the long term. This club must be even better when I am not here anymore. That's the plan."

The Reds boss also confirmed that Thiago Alcantara, Roberto Firmino and the ill Joel Matip will all miss out at the weekend, while Curtis Jones and Naby Keita are both fitness doubts.

Klopp has won 222 of his 358 games in charge of Liverpool since arriving in 2015, scooping the Premier League, Champions League, EFL Cup and Club World Cup during his time at Anfield.
