Liverpool reportedly learn how much they would have to pay to appoint Feyenoord manager Arne Slot as their next boss.

Liverpool have reportedly established what they will need to pay to appoint Arne Slot as their new manager.

They Merseyside giants have spent the last three months assessing their options on the back of Jurgen Klopp announcing he will depart his role at Anfield at the end of the season.

Soon after Xabi Alonso committed his future to Bayer Leverkusen, it appeared that Sporting Lisbon's Ruben Amorim was the most likely successor to the German.

However, in recent days, the Portuguese has dropped down the pecking order, with Feyenoord boss Slot seemingly emerging as a strong candidate.

Reports have indicated that Liverpool have already held discussions with the 45-year-old as they bid to find Klopp's successor before the end of the current campaign.

What would Liverpool have to pay?

On the back of rejecting Tottenham Hotspur's interest in the past, Slot was presented with the opportunity to extend his contract at De Kuip until 2026.

Nevertheless, it has been widely suggested that there was no release clause included in those terms, giving Feyenoord the leeway to set their own asking price.

According to the Daily Mail, the Dutch giants are prepared to give the green light to an exit for Slot for €10m (£8.6m).

The report acknowledges that Slot is interested in making the switch to Anfield and Feyenoord are open to allowing their successful head coach make the move to the Premier League.

Why could Slot be viewed as the right man to replace Klopp?

Slot had impressed at AZ Alkmaar before he eventually moved to Feyenoord, but his time in Rotterdam has only exceeded expectations.

A total of 94 wins and just 23 defeats have come during 146 matches in all competitions, with Slot having won an Eredivisie title and KNVB Beker trophy as well as reaching the 2021-22 Europa Conference League final.

Although Feyenoord have been outclassed by PSV Eindhoven during the current campaign, they still have 72 points from 30 games, scoring 77 goals in the process.

His style of play is also not too dissimilar to that of Klopp's the hope seemingly being that will help with the transition from a manager who has spent eight-and-a-half years at the helm.

While other managers have been linked with the soon-to-be vacant position, it appears that Liverpool are ready to be proactive in appointing Slot as their next boss.
