Everton manager David Moyes has called for referee Andre Marriner to be "strong" when he takes charge of the Merseyside derby this weekend.
Marriner has been chosen by the Premier League to oversee the encounter between Everton and Liverpool at Goodison Park this weekend and Moyes is hoping that the Toffees do not endure a repeat of last season, when Jack Rodwell was wrongly sent off for a challenge on Luis Suarez.
"We've got to be careful," said Moyes. "People are going to turn away from football if they continue to go to watch people who throw themselves on the ground when they're not touched.
"I think it's important you do get someone who's strong enough to identify what are the right challenges and the wrong ones, and in last year's game we got really badly done by a terrible refereeing decision."
Meanwhile, Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers believes that his side have not had any refereeing decisions go their way so far this season.
