Pepe Reina says that Liverpool will have to wait three years before they can challenge for a title again.

Pepe Reina has said that Liverpool will have to wait three years before they can challenge for a title again.

The keeper also said that the Carling Cup could be the Reds' only chance of silverware this season.

"I think it will be two or three more years before we are ready to challenge for the Premier League or Champions League again," Reina told The Mirror.

"Hopefully it will be as soon as possible but we are within touching distance of the Carling Cup final.

"We have not won a trophy since 2006 and it is very important to the club to collect some silverware this season."

Liverpool take on Manchester City tonight in the semi-finals of the Carling Cup with a 1-0 aggregate.
