Brendan Rodgers: 'Glen Johnson could return next week'

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers reveals that defender Glen Johnson could return to the club's first-team squad for their game with Swansea City next weekend.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed that defender Glen Johnson could feature against Swansea City next weekend.

Johnson had been ruled out for an "indefinite" amount of time last month, but after returning to training earlier this week, Rodgers believes that the full-back has benefited from the time spent on the sidelines.

The 41-year-old is quoted by The Sport Review as saying: "Glen Johnson's working well but I don't think that he'll be ready for the game this weekend.

"If he has a good week next week, he'll be very close but he looks fresher and fitter. The period that he has been out has really helped him and he now looks in a good condition."

Johnson has made 18 appearances for the Merseyside outfit this season.
