Brendan Rodgers reveals frail Liverpool confidence

Brendan Rodgers says that his Liverpool team are short on confidence at the moment after Crystal Palace inflicted a sixth league defeat of the season on them.

Brendan Rodgers has conceded that his Liverpool players are suffering from a shortage of confidence following the "very disappointing" 3-1 defeat at Crystal Palace on Sunday.

The Reds slumped to their sixth loss of the Premier League season at Selhurst Park yesterday as Palace came from a goal down to leave Rodgers's side 12th in the table.

Liverpool are now four league games without a win, and the Northern Irishman admits that his troops - who finished second last season - are "just not good enough" at the moment.

"You've seen a team low on confidence today. Not quite together as a team. We need to find a solution very quickly because it was very disappointing," he told reporters.

"I put the team out there, the best team to win us the game. We made a good start. You could see our passing was a wee bit tentative and then we make mistakes. Mistakes you wouldn't expect to see at a team that's supposed to be challenging.

"Overall, that intensity and togetherness in our game isn't there. When you don't get the results, that affects you. That leads to [damaged] confidence. We have to work harder but we go away bitterly disappointed with the result. At this moment, we're just not good enough."

The Merseysiders host Stoke City at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
