Mamadou Sakho thrilled for Liverpool teammate Mario Balotelli

Mamadou Sakho admits that he is "really happy" for Liverpool teammate Mario Balotelli following the striker's late winner against Spurs.

Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho has admitted that he is "really happy" for Mario Balotelli following the striker's winner against Tottenham Hotspur.

Balotelli scored his first Premier League goal for the Reds last night as they secured an important 3-2 victory over Spurs at Anfield.

Sakho now hopes that the Italian can become more of a goal threat for the side as they look to secure a top-four finish in the Premier League.

"It's great news for him, for the team and for the club," he told Liverpool's official website. "I hope he will score many goals for the team because he is a very good man and I know every day he works hard in training. I'm happy for him."

Liverpool continue their FA Cup campaign on Saturday when they travel to Crystal Palace in the fifth round.
