Robbie Savage backs Brendan Rodgers to "get it right"

Robbie Savage backs Brendan Rodgers to "get it right" at Liverpool despite a disappointing start to the season.

Robbie Savage has backed Brendan Rodgers to turn Liverpool's poor start to the season around.

The Reds are currently on a three-game winless streak in the Premier League and lie in 14th place after just six games.

However, Savage has reminded those that are criticising Rodgers that the Northern Irishman "performed absolute miracles last season".

"Yes, Liverpool have made a patchy start this season, but they deserved to win the Merseyside derby last weekend," Savage told The Mirror.

"If you take Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge out of Liverpool's team, of course they are going to find it hard to adjust. Suarez jumping ship to Barcelona and Sturridge's injury are not Rodgers' fault.

"Rodgers performed absolute miracles last season in finishing second and coming within a whisker of winning the title. There may be the odd slip while Liverpool adjust to life without Suarez, but Rodgers will get it right. I still expect them to challenge for a top-four finish."

Rodgers is in his third full season in charge of Liverpool, and has led them to seventh-place and second-place finishes in the Premier League in 2012-13 and 2013-14 respectively.
