Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling says that the "passion" of the Merseyside derbies overrides the clashes against Manchester United.

Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling believes that the "passion" of the Merseyside derbies makes them the "biggest" games in the Premier League calendar.

While many suggest that the fierce rivalry between Manchester United and Liverpool overrides the head-to-heads with the Reds and Everton, Sterling believes that taking on the Blues is a bigger challenge.

"People say the Man Uniteds and the Arsenals are big games but when it comes to Everton, they are the biggest because we're obviously from the same city and both sets of fans are rivals," Sterling told Sky Sports News.

"When I played at Goodison, it was one of the best experiences I've ever had. It's just the passion from both sides of the city. Obviously the red side is the one that we want to win, but the passion from both sides and the players is one of the best things you'll ever see in the game."

Despite recently being sidelined with a thigh injury, Sterling is in contention to feature this Sunday.
