Daniel Sturridge apologises for reaction over substitution

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge apologises for his reaction angry reaction after being substituted during the Merseyside derby in his side's 4-0 win at Anfield.

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has apologised to the club and their supporters for his reaction after being substituted in their 4-0 win over Everton in the Merseyside derby.

Sturridge reacted angrily as he was taken off after missing a penalty, which would have secured his hat-trick in the game, as his earlier two strikes had handed Brendan Rodgers's side a comfortable lead at Anfield.

He told BBC Sport: "I apologise if anyone was offended. I felt I had let myself and the fans down by missing the penalty. I didn't react to the manager, I was just disappointed with how I missed the penalty.

"It's not about myself, it's about all the boys."

Liverpool are fourth in the Premier League following the win.
