How Liverpool could line up against Everton

Sports Mole looks at how Liverpool could line up for their first game back after lockdown, which sees them face Everton in the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.

More than 100 days after seeing their title charge halted through circumstances entirely out of their control, Liverpool will finally continue on their path towards a first top-flight crown since 1990 on Sunday evening.

Jurgen Klopp's side make the short trip across Stanley Park to face Everton in the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park, knowing that victory would take them to within one win of the title.

Everton have not beaten their local rivals for more than a decade and will again be underdogs on Sunday as Liverpool aim to pick up their relentless form again following the coronavirus stoppage.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Jurgen Klopp could line his side up for the contest.

Liverpool's biggest injury concern coming out of lockdown is Mohamed Salah, who missed a warm-up game last week and has not been pictured in any of the team's training sessions recently.

Klopp refused to rule his top scorer out of the derby, but he is also unlikely to take any risks over his fitness given the congested schedule that is coming up.

Divock Origi, who has scored five goals against Everton, could come in if Salah misses out, although Klopp has also talked up the condition of Takumi Minamino while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Adam Lallana are also options in the front three.

Origi netted a brace in the reverse fixture at Anfield and could become the first Liverpool player since Dick Forshaw in 1925-26 to score multiple goals in both league editions of the derby within a single season.

Andrew Robertson is another minor doubt, although he has at least been pictured in training and therefore seems more likely than Salah to be ready for Sunday's showdown in a full-strength back five.

Indeed, with the possible exception of Salah, Klopp should have a full-strength side available to him, with all of their doubts bar Salah and Xherdan Shaqiri expected to be available.
