Spanish midfielder Marcos Llorente's agent has revealed that Liverpool rejected the chance to sign his client from Real Madrid in this summer's transfer window.
Llorente completed a move to Atletico Madrid earlier this month, penning a five-year deal at the Wanda Metropolitano.
According to Julio Llorente, who is the midfielder's agent and uncle, Liverpool were offered the chance to sign the 24-year-old but the Reds were not interested in a deal.
"I contacted several clubs to let them know what had happened, the conversation that Zidane and Marcos had," Julio Llorente told Cadena SER.
"One of them was Liverpool, but Marcos's position was covered and it wasn't a priority. But Atletico are those who perhaps took the strongest step and convinced us. I think we're right. I hope it's like that, I hope Marcos does very well."
Llorente, who is yet to win a senior cap for Spain, only made 16 appearances for Los Blancos during the 2018-19 campaign.
