Martin Skrtel's agent has confirmed that a move to Napoli to link up with former boss Rafael Benitez would be "impossible".

Martin Skrtel will not be linking up with former boss Rafael Benitez at Napoli is likely to stay at Liverpool this summer, according to the player's agent.

Benitez was confirmed as the new boss of the Serie A side after leaving his post as Chelsea manager following the end of their post-season tour of the United States.

The Slovakian defender was linked with a move to join his former manager after admitting that he was considering his future at Anfield.

"It's not possible; I consider it a very difficult deal," Karol Csonto told Calciomercatio.it.

"I like Napoli and I have great respect for this club, but Martin still has a three-year contract with Liverpool and the most likely outcome is that he remains there.

"They spent three years together, establishing a good relationship with him, but I repeat now that this suggestion is impossible."

Skrtel made 33 appearances for Liverpool last season under Brendan Rodgers in all competitions.
