Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur reportedly prepare to go head-to-head for Feyenoord midfielder Quinten Timber, the twin brother of Arsenal's Jurrien Timber.

Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly ready to go head-to-head for Feyenoord midfielder Quinten Timber, the twin brother of Arsenal's Jurrien Timber.

The 23-year-old dons the captain's armband for the Rotterdam giants, including at the Etihad when his side pulled off a magnificent comeback in a 3-3 Champions League draw with Manchester City last month.

Quinten Timber was first on the Feyenoord books from 2008 to 2014 before leaving for Ajax, where he worked his way up the ranks alongside Jurrien Timber before being allowed to join FC Utrecht on a free transfer in 2021.

After just one year, the midfielder earned a marquee move to Arne Slot's Feyenoord, who paid just €7.4m (£6.2m) to bring him back to Rotterdam and reaped the rewards straight away.

Quinten Timber has now registered 15 goals and an identical number of assists in 95 matches for Feyenoord across all competitions, including four strikes and two helpers from 20 matches this term.

However, the Dutchman has not penned a single contract extension since making the move back to Rotterdam in 2022, and he will enter the final 18 months of his deal in January.

According to FootballTransfers, Feyenoord are prepared to part ways with Quinten Timber either in January or the summer, as the Dutch giants want to recoup a reasonable fee in 2025 and avoid running the risk of losing him for nothing in 2026.

Liverpool and Spurs are both rumoured to be pursuing a deal for Quinten Timber, who supposedly has 'no significant weaknesses', as Slot pursues a reunion with the player he managed for a brief time in Rotterdam.

The Merseyside giants have apparently earmarked Quinten Timber as an ideal alternative to Real Sociedad's Martin Zubimendi, whom they were close to signing in the summer before the Spaniard chose to stay in La Liga.

Zubimendi's future is being called into question again ahead of the summer of 2025, but Liverpool would face stiff competition for his services in the shape of Arsenal and Manchester City.

Why might Tottenham have the edge in Quinten Timber race

Meanwhile, Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou is supposedly prepared to let Yves Bissouma depart next year in order to deny Slot a reunion with the Feyenoord man, who excels in a box-to-box role.

Bissouma made a brilliant start to his Spurs career with Postecoglou at the helm, but he has failed to maintain that high level and gave away a nonsensical penalty in last weekend's 4-3 loss to Chelsea.

The report claims that Tottenham have a 'marginal edge' in the race due to the fact that Quinten Timber and Jurrien Timber are still very close and would jump at the chance to live close to each other in the same city.

There would reportedly be no issue with the two brothers playing for direct North London rivals, having already faced each other in Eredivisie derbies between Feyenoord and Ajax.
