Liverpool 'alerted to Sami Khedira availability'

A report claims that Sami Khedira may replace Emre Can at Liverpool should his German compatriot join Juventus on a free contract.

Liverpool are reportedly considering an approach for Juventus midfielder Sami Khedira at the end of the season to fill the void left by Emre Can.

The Reds are expected to lose their German midfielder once his contract expires later this month after failing to agree fresh terms over the past few weeks.

Juventus are seen as the favourites to land free agent Can and, according to The Sun, that could free up space for Khedira to head the opposite way.

Khedira, who has been with the Turin giants for the past three years, hinted at the weekend that he wants to join an English club.

The report suggests that Liverpool have been alerted to the 31-year-old's availability, and he is excited by the prospect of possibly linking up with compatriot Jurgen Klopp.
