Liverpool announce that 19-year-old midfielder Harvey Elliott has signed a new contract at the club until the end of the 2026-27 season.

Liverpool have announced that Harvey Elliott has signed a new contract at the club until the summer of 2027.

The 19-year-old has re-established himself as a regular member of Jurgen Klopp's first-team squad after recovering from his serious ankle injury last season.

Elliott was restricted to just 11 senior appearances in all competitions last term, but he did score his first goal for the club in the FA Cup against Cardiff City.

The former Fulham starlet now has one goal and two assists to boast from 22 games in a Liverpool shirt and came off the bench against his former club in Saturday's 2-2 draw.

News of an imminent contract extension for Elliott came out on Thursday morning, and Liverpool have now confirmed that the teenager has penned fresh terms.

"It's always nice to know that I'm going to be here for many more years, which is always a great thing with it being my boyhood club and there is nothing in this world that makes me more happy and more excited than this," Elliott told Liverpoolfc.com.

"It's been a big rollercoaster for me and my family and even for the club. So much has happened in the years that I have been here.

"We've already won so much and hopefully we can win so much more, so just to know that I am going to be here for a long time again – as I said, it's always a wonderful feeling for myself and my family [and] being Liverpool supporters there is no better place in this world to be than playing for Liverpool and to put the shirt on and go out and play for the team and the fans.

"I'm hoping there are many more memories to come with it but I'm just so excited to put pen to paper and stay here for a lot longer."

Klopp added: "There is so much to like about this. For us, as a club, we get to continue our journey with a special young player who has already made a big impact on Liverpool FC. For Harvey, he gets to carry on developing, improving and hopefully fulfilling his incredible talent at the club he has always supported. What's not to like?

"Harvey got a big knock last season but, like all of the experiences he has had so far, he used it to grow as a person and a player. It was always obvious that he was a good footballer but taking the next steps was always going to be about using information and experiences to grow and this is exactly what Harvey is doing.

"Now it is all about carrying on enjoying his football as much as we enjoy watching him develop. It is an exciting time for him and for us."

Elliott becomes the latest in a long line of Liverpool players to extend their deals this summer after Mohamed Salah, James Milner, Joe Gomez, Diogo Jota and Stefan Bajcetic.

The midfielder - who amassed seven goals and 11 assists in 42 appearances for Blackburn Rovers during a loan spell in 2021 - will hope to earn more opportunities in the engine room amid Thiago Alcantara and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's long-term layoffs.

Curtis Jones will hope to return from a muscular problem soon enough, while Naby Keita is also on the comeback trail from illness as Liverpool fans urge Klopp to sign a new midfielder.

Elliott could have a strong chance of starting alongside Fabinho and Jordan Henderson for Monday's Premier League game for Crystal Palace as the Reds aim to pick up their first win of the new top-flight season at the second attempt.

The England Under-21 international started against Burnley, Chelsea and Leeds United last season before entering the treatment room, and he made one further Premier League appearance from the first whistle against Southampton in the penultimate gameweek of the season.
