Liverpool are reportedly open to signing at least two new goalkeepers during the summer transfer window.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot is reportedly open to acquiring two new goalkeepers during the summer transfer window.

Having agreed to replace long-serving Jurgen Klopp in the dugout, Slot has since started work at the club's training complex to begin preparations for the new season.

As it stands, outgoings have dominated Liverpool's transfer business, with Joel Matip and Thiago - who has since retired - departing on free transfers.

Adrian, the third-choice goalkeeper, has also left via the same route, leaving Slot with a decision to make over how to handle that spot in the squad becoming vacant.

That comes at a time when speculation persists that backup stopper Caoimhin Kelleher is also open to moving elsewhere to earn regular senior football.

Liverpool in the market for a goalkeeper

According to Football Insider, Slot and the club's recruitment team will definitely sign at least one goalkeeper before the end of August.

Alisson Becker will remain as the undisputed first choice, with Kelleher only making 26 appearances last season due to the Brazilian's injury issues.

However, the report highlights the Republic of Ireland international's situation and the potential for a sale to materialise in due course.

Should that be the case, it is claimed that Slot would likely target two fresh faces for between the sticks.

As it stands, Kelleher is highly unlikely to want to extend his contract past 2026, leaving Liverpool in a position where they will recognise that they will only get peak value for the goalkeeper if they complete a sale over the coming months.

Promote from within?

While it seems realistic to expect Liverpool to sign a goalkeeper from elsewhere, they have the option of promoting Vitezslav Jaros.

The 22-year-old - a one-cap Czech Republic international who was part of their Euro 2024 squad - made 21 appearances on loan at Sturm Graz last season.

Furthermore, Jaros would also fill a homegrown slot in the respective Premier League and Champions League squads, freeing up Liverpool to sign a player who does not need to fulfil that criteria.

Jaros, who has never made a first-team outing for Liverpool, has less than 12 months remaining on his contract.
