Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre ensures fans that players including Luis Suarez will not be sold following the club's increase in debts.

Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre has insisted that the club will not be forced to sell their prized assets during the summer transfer window, despite the club's recent accounts.

The Merseyside outfit posted a £21.8m rise in debts to £87.2m from August 2011 to May 2012, but Ayre has claimed that this will not result in the departures of players including star striker Luis Suarez.

"We won't be selling anyone because of the financial position," Sky Sports News quotes Ayre as saying.

"If we are selling anyone, it will be because they are deemed by the manager to be surplus to his requirements and if that happens we will be replacing them and bringing new players in as we always do.

"There's no panic on our part. We feel that we are making progress and improving all the time."

The Reds suffered an annual loss of £40.5m.
