Portugal fall behind to European minnows Luxembourg before fighting back to restore parity at the break in their opening World Cup qualifier.

Portugal find themselves level with European minnows Luxembourg after 45 minutes of play at Stade Josy Barthel.

Paulo Bento's men, who at fourth in the world are ranked 102 places higher than their opponents, fell behind on 13 minutes when Daniel da Mota Alves found the top corner with a superb 25-yard shot.

Portugal have named their strongest possible lineup and they equalised courtesy of the most expensive player of all time.

Cristiano Ronaldo fired the ball below goalkeeper Jonathan Joubert from 10 yards on 28 minutes.

The Portuguese captain then hit the post moments later.

Da Mota Alves is of Portuguese parentage but he was born in Ettelbruck, Luxembourg.
