How Manchester City could line up against Shakhtar Donetsk

Sports Mole looks at how Manchester City could line up in Tuesday's Champions League clash with Shakhtar Donetsk.

Manchester City will be eyeing their second win in Group F when they travel to Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

City opened their 2018-19 European challenge with a 2-1 home defeat to Lyon, but overcame Hoffenheim last time out to move into second in the section.

Pep Guardiola's side will also enter the match off the back of a thumping 5-0 win over Burnley in the Premier League at the weekend and will therefore be full of confidence as they look to overcome Shakhtar in Ukraine.

That said, it will prove to be a tough assignment against a team who sit top of their domestic league, and have plenty of European experience.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how City could line up in Ukraine.

Out: Claudio Bravo (Achilles), Ilkay Gundogan (knock), Eliaquim Mangala (knee)

Kevin De Bruyne made his comeback from a knee injury against Burnley at the weekend, and the Belgium will be under consideration to start this match.

De Bruyne could be one of a number of changes as head coach Guardiola prepares to shuffle his pack, with Raheem Sterling and Nicolas Otamendi - both rested against Burnley - returning to the XI.

Kyle Walker and Benjamin Mendy should continue in the full-back positions, but De Bruyne's introduction could see Bernardo Silva drop out, despite the Portugal international impressing once again in City's five-goal showing on Saturday.

Gabriel Jesus has not quite had the start to the season that he would have wanted, and the Brazilian might have to wait for a spot in the XI as Sergio Aguero prepares to lead the attack once again.

Leroy Sane is currently negotiating a new contract with City as the German shows signs of rediscovering his form from last season, and the 22-year-old should start on the left of a front three.
