Real Madrid team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Manchester City

Sports Mole rounds up Real Madrid's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Wednesday's Champions League clash with Manchester City.

Real Madrid will welcome Manchester City to the Bernabeu on Wednesday night for the first leg of their last-16 clash in the Champions League.

These two teams have not locked horns since the semi-finals of the 2015-16 competition, where Madrid recorded a 1-0 aggregate victory to progress to the final.

Los Blancos will enter the match having won just one of their last four fixtures in all competitions, and Saturday's 1-0 loss to Levante saw them relinquish first spot in La Liga to Barcelona.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Madrid's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the European contest in the Spanish capital.

Marco Asensio

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Marco Asensio remains on the sidelines with the serious knee injury that he picked up during the team's preparations for the 2019-20 campaign. The Spaniard is making positive progress in his recovery, though, and could potentially return to action at some point in March.

Gareth Bale

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Illness
Possible return date: February 26 (vs. Man City)

Gareth Bale did not feature in Saturday's clash with Levante having failed to overcome a sickness bug. The Wales international is again a doubt for this match but has not yet been officially ruled out.

Eden Hazard

Possible return date: February 26 (vs. Man City)

Eden Hazard limped off during Saturday's clash with Levante having suffered a blow to his right ankle. The Belgium international was playing for just the second time since returning from a long-term problem, but Zinedine Zidane admitted after the clash that the attacker was now a doubt for Wednesday's fixture.

REAL MADRID'S SUSPENSION LIST

Madrid have no players suspended for the European contest.
