Fernandinho admits CSKA Moscow pitch concerns

Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho admits that a poor playing surface could make life difficult in tomorrow night's Champions League clash with CSKA Moscow.

Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho has admitted that he is concerned about the state of the playing surface ahead of tomorrow night's crunch Champions League clash with CSKA Moscow.

CSKA's Khimki Arena passed a UEFA pitch inspection last weekend after persistent heavy rain left the surface unplayable three weeks ago.

He told the Daily Mail: "I am worried about the pitch because our team try to play with the ball on the deck and if you don't have a good pitch it could be very hard for us.

"We can't think about the draw, we need to go there to win. We play CSKA twice, back to back.

"We must win and if we do that and then beat them at home, we will take a big step towards qualification."

Manuel Pellegrini's side have been asked not to train at the Khimki today after CSKA expressed concerns that the pitch may break up, with City waiting for UEFA clarification on the matter.
