Joe Hart: 'Manchester City can still progress into Champions League quarters'

Man City goalkeeper Joe Hart still believes that his side can progress to the Champions League quarter-finals despite a 2-1 defeat to Barcelona in the last-16 first leg.

Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart has insisted that his side still have "belief" that they can progress to the quarter-finals of the Champions League despite losing to Barcelona this evening.

Luis Suarez's first-half brace gave the Spanish giants two away goals on their way to a 2-1 victory at the Etihad Stadium, with City now needing to score at least twice in the second leg at Camp Nou next month.

However, it could have been worse for the Premier League champions as Hart saved a late penalty from Lionel Messi, and the 27-year-old is hopeful that his stop will give City a chance.

When asked whether the penalty save could be crucial, Hart told ITV Sport: "I hope so. We will go there with a great group of fans, belief and we will have a right go.

"We pressed until the first goal and panicked a bit. We regrouped second half, put a lot of pressure on and were good for our goal and maybe good for a result tonight.

"The occasion did not get to us, sometimes things go against you. It is 2-1 and we go there with belief."

Sergio Aguero got the second-half goal for City, who ended the match with 10 men following Gael Clichy's red card.
