Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers reacts to his side's 1-1 draw with Manchester City in the Champions League.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has lavished praise on his players following their 1-1 draw with Manchester City in the Champions League.

The Hoops boss described his side's performance as "absolutely brilliant" but expressed his disappointment that they failed to defeat the Citizens at least once during the campaign.

"We were absolutely brilliant tonight in everything we did. We pressed the ball and forced them to kick it long, it's a huge compliment for us. We were superb on the ball, played through the pressure and created chances," he told reporters.

"We have grown in belief the more we have worked together. We are disappointed not to have won at least one of the games against City."

Celtic took the lead in the fourth minute through Patrick Roberts but were forced to settle for a point as Kelechi Iheanacho levelled things up moments later.

"Patrick Roberts scored a brilliant goal and he could have had a penalty but it was right on the line. It was incredible performance by him," Rodgers added.

Celtic had already bowed out of European competition ahead of the match, with the Hoops confined to fourth place in Group C.
