Samir Nasri confirms that his outburst during France's 1-1 draw with England was aimed at French newspaper L'Equipe as opposed to the Three Lions.

France and Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri has revealed that his taunt during his side's Group D clash against England was aimed at the French press as opposed to his national side's opponents.

The 24-year-old was accused of hitting out against England following his equaliser in France's 1-1 draw with the Three Lions yesterday after appearing to shout "shut your gob" in his native tongue.

Despite these reports, the former Arsenal playmaker has confirmed that he was gesturing towards French newspaper L'Equipe.

"[My outburst] was aimed at the French press and not at others who didn't criticise me," said Nasri. "L'Equipe has been very unfriendly towards me and have written a lot of bad things.

"Ahead of a European Championship, the goal should be to help the national team prepare well for the tournament."

France currently sit third in the group below England and Ukraine.
