West Bromwich Albion and Manchester City met in the Premier League this evening.

Sergio Aguero gave the visitors an early lead, before Yaya Toure doubled their advantage midway through the first half.

Toure scored his second of the night from the penalty spot, to give his side a three-goal lead.

An own goal from Costel Pantilimon and an injury-time strike from Victor Anichebe came too late for West Brom, as City held on to the win.

Was the result fair?

Manchester City fully deserved their win this evening. The scoreline could have been far higher, had they been more clinical in front of goal. They dominated possession from start to finish and controlled the game for long periods. West Brom's two late goals don't do justice to the final result and they will be well aware that they were second best this evening.

West Bromwich Albion's performance

West Brom will be disappointed at how they approached the game. They gave City far too much space to pass the ball around and were made to pay. It took them until the final minute to get a shot on target, with their two goals coming far too late to make a difference.

Manchester City's performance

Manchester City were exceptional this evening. They should have been out of sight before giving away two poor late goals, but Manuel Pellegrini will have been delighted they held on to win only their second away league game of the season. Some of the moves City put together, including Toure's second goal, were a joy to watch and show just why they are considered among the title favourites.

Sports Mole's man of the match

Yaya Toure: The midfielder was at his commanding best this evening, and the West Brom players couldn't get anywhere near him. He effortlessly strode around the pitch, and made a fantastic run into the area to score his first goal of the game. His penalty was calmly slotted into the net and turned out to be far more crucial than first imagined. If City are to be successful this season, then they will need Toure fit and ready to play every game.

Biggest gaffe

West Brom were already behind when Claudio Yacob brought down Aleksandar Kolarov, but it gave City the chance to race into a three-goal lead. The converted penalty enabled the visitors to see out the game, despite letting their guard down in the closing stages.

Referee's performance

Due to the positive way both teams play, Chris Foy was not called upon too often this evening. The game was allowed to flow and there weren't too many stoppages in play. He got the big decision of the evening correct by giving the penalty and handed out two yellow cards that were fully deserved.

West Bromwich Albion: The Baggies host Norwich City in the Premier League on Saturday.

Manchester City: City are also in Premier League action on Saturday and visit Southampton.
