Vincent Kompany: 'Manchester City forwards want more goals'

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany says that the club's attacking players remain hungry to score more goals after recording a 17th successive win in the top flight.

Manchester City defender Vincent Kompany has backed the club's attacking players to improve their return in front of goal during the second half of the campaign.

On Saturday, City ran out comfortable 4-0 winners against Bournemouth to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League standings to 13 points.

City have scored 60 goals from their 19 league games this season, but Kompany has suggested that Pep Guardiola's side will be even more ruthless during the upcoming months.

The 31-year-old is quoted by ESPN as saying: "These guys are just hungry for more. 'Kun' (Sergio Aguero) has always been inclined that way but I think everybody else now up front has a feeling of scoring goals, what it means to be the main man. It is something that doesn't go away.

"Everyone is working hard in training, you can tell, to improve whatever they can to score more goals. That helps the team ultimately. We are in a good position with a lot of guys that want to do well."

City are next in action when they travel to St James' Park to face Newcastle United on December 27.
