Linesman John Brooks told the Manchester City players to thank their travelling support on the final whistle of their victory over Arsenal at the Emirates yesterday due to the amount of money the supporters had spent to get there.
The issue of ticket prices have been rumbling in recent weeks and a host of City fans could be heard chanting "you're s**t and you charge too much" towards the home side during the Blues' 2-0 win.
After the final whistle, Brooks was caught on camera shaking hands with City defender Joleon Lescott saying: "They've paid 62 quid over there, go and see them."
The Premier League champions sent back 912 of the 3,000 tickets allocated to them prior to the match.
