Alvaro Negredo: 'Manchester City must move on from derby win'

Manchester United striker Alvaro Negredo says that the team must move forward from the derby win over Manchester United.

Alvaro Negredo has said that Manchester City must put their derby win over Manchester United behind them and focus on their next game.

Manuel Pellegrini's side beat their neighbours 4-1 last Sunday, before progressing to the fourth round of the League Cup with a comfortable win over Wigan Athletic during the week.

The striker, who joined the club this summer, told the team's website: "Derby day was a very beautiful day for this club, we were very happy and it will give us a lot of confidence going forward but we have to put that to one side and concentrate on Aston Villa now.

"Villa are a good team with lots of talented, young players and we will have to play at the same level we showed against United and Wigan if we are going to take the three points.

"But we are confident in our own abilities, we're doing fine, playing well and now the goal is to continue playing in this way. We have new players from all over Europe, but I have played with Navas for a long time and we know each other very well, Fernandinho is a player of immense quality."

City face Aston Villa at Villa Park tomorrow afternoon.
