Manchester City smash five past AC Milan

Manchester City run out 5-1 winners over AC Milan in a pre-season friendly in Pittsburgh.

Stevan Jovetic scored twice as Manchester City hammered AC Milan 5-1 in their pre-season friendly at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh this evening.

City scored two goals in as many minutes when Scott Sinclair's improvised finish made it 2-0 on 14 minutes, moments after Jovetic had poked home at the near post.

Jesus Navas then struck on 23 minutes when his acrobatic effort from the edge of the box took a deflection off Andrea Poli to deceive the goalkeeper and creep into the near corner.

Teenager Kelechi Iheanacho made it 4-0 with a toe-poke on the edge of the box, before Sulley Muntari reduced the deficit with a tap-in at the back post after a good header from Alex shortly before half time.

There were fears that the game would be called off at the break as storms swirled around Pittsburgh, but the players eventually emerged for the second period after an extended delay.

Mario Balotelli had a goal chalked out following his introduction after the break, then Jovetic had his second of the match just before the hour mark with a smart finish inside the area.

M'Baye Niang and Riccardo Saponara both had chances to pull another goal back for Milan in the closing stages, but they were unable to score as City ran out comfortable winners.
