Khaldoon Al Mubarak: 'Manchester City will spend big this summer'

Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak pledges to spend big in the transfer market this summer.

Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has pledged to spend big this summer in an attempt to wrestle back the Premier League title from Chelsea.

After lifting the title in Manuel Pellegrini's first season in charge last year, the Citizens surrendered their crown to Jose Mourinho's Blues this term, but the City chief has talked up what could be a huge outlay for his club in the transfer window.

He told the club's official TV station: "I think you will see some changes and maybe it's time to move on to the next challenge and you will see us in the market bringing high quality individuals that fit within what we are aspiring to.

"I can assure you this squad will be stronger, and this team will be more competitive and I am confident and excited about what is coming this season.

"The energy right now is about positive energy and getting back on track and winning back that Premier League. Again, we need better performances in the Champions League. We've created a great nucleus but we want a squad that can win the Premier League and compete and win the Champions League."

A recent report claimed that City are lining up a move for Real Madrid midfielder Isco.
