Report: Manchester City forced to pay more for Nicolas Otamendi

Manchester City will not allow Eliaquim Mangala to leave the club on loan to Valencia, according to reports.

Valencia are reportedly after more money from Manchester City for centre-back Nicolas Otamendi after the terms of a proposed deal changed yesterday.

The Argentine has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League all summer, and it finally seemed to be on the cards yesterday when City struck a deal with the La Liga club.

The former Premier League champions were due to pay £28.4m for Otamendi, while current City defender Eliaquim Mangala would go to Spain on a season-long loan.

However, Sky Sports News claims that boss Manuel Pellegrini wants to keep Mangala at the club, forcing City to pay more money for Otamendi.

The 27-year-old is understood to have a £35.5m buy-out clause in his contract.
