Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt suggests that he would prefer a transfer to Barcelona over Manchester City in the future.

Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt has suggested that he would be open to a transfer to Barcelona in the future.

De Ligt has established himself as one of the top prospects in European football, with the 19-year-old already being linked with a wide range of high-profile clubs.

Both Barcelona and Manchester City are among the teams said to be monitoring the youngster's development, but according to Marca, De Ligt has a preference regarding a future move to either club.

The report claims that when quizzed on a switch to either the La Liga or Premier League sides, De Ligt said that there was "good weather in Barcelona".

The Netherlands international - who has a contract at Ajax until 2021 - has already made 61 outings for his current club.
